Peter Salis would make a great older Wainwright - right accent too. Eric Robson would have to shave off his beard and he'd never do that and Pete Postlethwaite is too skinny...

If ever a story was begging to be made into a biopic (done properly that is) it has to be 'The Villain': Climbing, post-war social history, class politics and stunning locations. Properly cast over about a dozen episodes, if anybody still commissions that kind of project.

Mmm, that begs the question - what actor could play Don Whillans?

As for me playing Wainwright - even my Lancashire accent sounds Glaswegian!!!

How about Jonny Vegas? ALthough I doubt he'd be capable of getting up the hills
