RE: Which bivi bag?

Interesting to hear comments on the TN bivi. I was hoping they did one in red so it could double up as a survival bag as well as a bivi for tarping etc. but they don't. Mountain Equipment do the Ion Bivi (280g) which has a RRP of £80 but I've seen it for £50. It is highly water resistant rather than fully waterproof though, and I've heard that it can be prone to condensation build up. The Alpkit Hunka (388g) is availible in red or black, is waterproof and Alpkit say it is "breathable enough". Its priced at £33 length 250cm.

RE: Which bivi bag?

I have used an Alpkit Hunka Bivi for over three years now. Really good for extra warth in a cold tent, Bothys and for summer bivis outside midgie zones. I have had to camp higher to get away from the pesky things.

Really usefull for summer solstice bivi out. Watch the sun go down from a mountain top them watch it come back up again a few hours later.

RE: Which bivi bag?

This is an old thread now, and you have probably made your decision, but I bought one of these three years a go for about 35 quid in excellent used condition.

It weighs in at 700g, but by putting my sleeping bag and Thermarest inside it and getting rid of all the stuff sacks, I can roll the whole lot up and slip over a couple of large rubber bands. It makes a drybag/stuffsack for the whole sleeping system, so I save about 200g anyhow.
