RE: tarps

I bought a 10ft X 10ft tarp from MountainLaurelDesigns. There was over $2 to the £ then though! His http://www.mountainlaureldesigns.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=35&products_id=102&osCsid=557499cdad6fa70f14d46740272d24eb TrailStar shelter looks like a good option for 2.

How the hell do you use the link thing?

RE: tarps

The only issue with using tarts is that they would be cumbersome and heavy to carry about on a longer walk. They do have an unsurpassed warmth to weight ratio though.

I wonder if TGO will do a review in the near future of the best tarts available?

RE: tarps

Any weight saved on your sleeping system by bringing a tart, has to be offset against 10 Bacardi Breezers per night for the tart. At 330ml a bottle, thats a wopping 3.3 litres of Bacardi Breezer a day. As a litre is equivalent to a kilo, that's an extra 23 kg of weight on a 7 day trek.
Also, white stilletos may not last for a 7 day hill trek. The weight of an extra pair of stilletos has to be added too.
A leopard skin Gucci handbag won't carry much in the way of supplies, so your rucksack size will have to increase as well.
Whilst this novel approach to UL backpacking has some merit, more work has to be done on the subject.
If TGO will pay for the tarts and Bacardi Breezers, i will supply a tent and volounteer for the arduous task of investigating this method further.

RE: tarps

There is also the associated fire hazzard of lighting up 20 fags in your shelter. 3.3l of Bacardi Breezers, fags and exposed flames don't mix well with sil-nylon and down sleeping bags in my experience.

This has ended me. Its the funniest thread I have read for a long time. Its good to see its not all too serious on the site. I wish I had seen this earlier and had time to comment before it was too old.

Agree - chat to Bob as he's a creative guy (and a nice chap besides) and if what you're looking for doesn't exist in this country he might well have the capability to make it exist. His Duo Tarp might do the job anyway.

If it's definitely a tart you're after and not a tarp, look here. Typos, eh, where would we be without them?
