RE: Subject ... Trumptown gets the go-ahead

It just makes me sick. I'm no billionaire, yet I, and I suspect you, donate hard earned cash each month to organisations in the hope that wild land is protected. Despite the fact that the area is a designated SSSI, Trump's dollars have the last word.

Do SSSI's actually confer any extra protection to land? I know there is a European designation that does make it hard to develop land conferred with that designation. I don't even think a red listed species on any land to be developed can save land if the development has the right arguments in it's favour. I personally don't like the arguments in this case and wonder where the favour comes into it?

Still, if you like dunes come to Formby area, we still have them and long may it stay. Natterjack toads anyone? Shhhh! Don't tell Trump.

I don't know if you remember that Disney originally wanted to place Euro Disney in the SE (Norfolk or somewhere down there). They came across opposition from NIMBYs and went to just outside of Paris. Some of the locals around the original location in UK were for it on the grounds of employment, and Euro Disney really did offer employment and value to the area. How much value will the development offer to the area really? Where will the money go? I doubt Trump's guys will leave much of the money in Scotland.

One thing that makes me against it so much is the fact that it is for golf! I mean is there a more dismally boring activity? It's just a good walk spoilt. If it had been for something interesting and not just for an activity only for the people who have the disposable income to waste on exorbitant memborships and course fees. It is partly jealousy I know but it is mainly the inconsistancy of the planning system.

Golf is like angling in that it is an expensive sport if you want to go to sites worth going to. I mean Royal Dee and other Scottish salmon rivers can cost an absolute fortune just like Trumpton.

Compare that to more minor rivers in England where a day rod licence is cheap as are the day fees for the local council run golf course.

Both activities are for the more privelaged unlike a nice walk among the dunes.

I hear Donald Trump is throwing toys out of his pram again. This time because of Scotland's planning laws. He's allegedly threatening to take his golf course to Northern Ireland. Good!

Just google donald trump. go down to the article in the Belfast Telegraph and see the hole he appears to be in. He's being sued right across the globe, for millions just in interest payments. Projects are collapsing and, with any luck, so will his Scottish venture.
Cadco, de Lorean, etc., etc. why do we fall over and over again for these chancers.
An article last year, in, I believe, the Wall St. Journal, alleged that no-one had ever made a profit out of going into partnership with Trump. Are you listening Wee Eck?
