Norman, I'm not giving away where I stand on this issue yet, but I will say that I enjoyed your story, and that the person who has no such stories is the loser.

RE: Red Cuillin.

Regarding splitting up - took GC's Ma's dog for a walk along beside a very snowy, icy River Don, with GC a week ago. Half way through she b*ggered off back to her Ma's.
We hadn't even had a crossed word, let alone a lover's tiff...

I frequently council her to stick together, particularly on the way doon but she frequently goes her own way. Maybe it's something about proving she doesn't need a man to get hame safely?

Although she's had to hitch back tae Aberdeen from Applecross & Glen Roy/Invergarry to name just a couple, she's always found some poor suckers to pick her up to date...

P.S. I see MY thread is still beating yours, which seems rather to have petered oot noo, n'est pas?

RE: Red Cuillin.

Yomper - note that you've now removed your last posting but just genuinely interested to know which thread you started which apparently generated over 5k hits?
;- Was it on this site? Hillwalking related?

Obviously the general popularity of the site can make a huge difference eg. basically same posting of mine on below site, generated an order of magnitude greater interest than on this wan...

P.S. Regarding your never having got lost - may I ask how many Munros-Corbetts-Grahams you've ascended?

How does it compare with my total of 660 [not including repeats]?

RE: Red Cuillin.

Yomper - aktually for once, you're quite right...

MY total is far in excess of 660, that's doesn't include multiple ascents, eg. The Buckle summited 8 times, always by rock climbs or scrambles, Lochnagar 8 times, plus innumerable ascents in Lakes, Alps, N. America, Spain...

Perhaps you might like to log your ascents on Scottishhills, you'd be surprised how many folk are genuinely interested to check out your record - shouldn't take you long: - Also the photos, as in those of my last 10 Corbetts (last link thread).

P.S. Did you hear about the guy who did Little Chamonix in boxing gloves & rollerskates - newspaper clippings still in The Dog & Gun (unbelievable huh)?
