Rab Generator Smock

I bought one of these in a sale at Joe Brown's. It's has a Primaloft 1 fill and Pertex Quantum inner and outer. It weighs approx. 350g and packs into its own breast pocket. There is a kangaroo style hand warmer pocket.

So far I have been very impressed with it. I use it most when I stop, or when I am high up in a wind, as I tend to get hot when walking. It's also great for cycling, where I normally sweat buckets, but get very cold when I stop. The fabric has a nice soft feel, but I have some reservations about how tear/abrasion resistant it might be. I can see it also being useful to wear in the evenings when camping.

I got the large size, as I wanted to use it as something that I pull on top of everything else when I need it. It seems very water resistant. I have worn it in 50mph wind and driving rain for about an hour without getting wet underneath the smock. Since it weighs almost nothing and packs down to almost nothing it now has a permanent place in my rucksack, taking the place of a fleece.

RE: Rab Generator Smock

2 weeks ago I left my beloved Rab Photon Hoodie at the summit of Tryfan. Anyone who either has it or now finds it is lucky and can keep it. Its been a trusted bit of kit and has served me well.
As you summit the north face you will see a small hollow to your right. step into this hollow and face adam and eve and the jacket will be stuffed into a crack directly behind you.
I took off the jacket to do the jump between adam and eve and back again to claim freeman status of Tryfan. Its not as easy as it looks. Especially since I have vertigo from an old ineer ear infection.

Sorry you lost your jacket - but well done on being the first person in ages who I have seen used the term vertigo correctly rather than suggesting it is a fear of heights!
