I can vouch that it's quite nice around Twatt - the one in Orkney! It's certainly more comforting than Lost in Strathdon and nicer than being stuck in Dirt Pot.

My uncle used to be the law in Sherrif Hutton!

I've just written a feature for TGO about some of the curious place names to be found in the Scottish Borders. Most people have probably heard of Rotten Bottom below White Coomb but there's also Muckle Knees and my own favourite - Dead for Cauld! Very appropriate for the conditions we have in the highlands at the moment.

Many a happy hour spent trawling through maps for odd place names. The south of England is littered with odd sounding villages.
