Hi Forum!
Im very new to the site. Im interested in taking up scrambling and mountaineering. I have very little experience and knowledge of this but have walked up Snowdon several times but only the Ryd Du pathway which was beautiful.
I am looking for advice and information about how I can get into scrambling as a hobbie. Where can I do this and who with? What training should I be looking at doing in order to do this?
I live in the Fens which I believe is the flatest part of the country (cambridgeshire)! There does not appear to be any climbing clubs or scrambling clubs near me at all!
Also what kit should I be looking at getting to start me off? Im hopefully off to Snowdon again in September and would like to take a more challenging, but safe route up and down, or maybe a few different ones over a couple of days.

The best advice I could give you would be to go along to a local climbing wall. Hire the kit needed and learn from the people around you. Only start to buy the kit once you know you are going to actually use it.

I have no idea of your age etc but I used to climb but have found that it gets a lot harder when the mid life spread comes along and time has affected my head for hights. Fear can make climbing less fluent and harder mixed with a lack of fitness it just became that difficult it was not that enjoyable. I have opted for scrambling, walking and winter walking which has given me many years of enjoyment.
Good luck in the future and welcome to the forum.
