New Evernew stove

Folk might be interested in the new Evernew Titanium DX Stove.
It is a combined meths, esbit and wood burning stove weighing 86g. I don't know if it will be on sale here, but it costs $88 in the US. Looks pretty tempting to me. :)

Yes, it looks interesting. And with the windscreen/pot stand rather like the old Svea 123 petrol stove. I'd like to know the fuel consumption figures - those flames look big.

RE: New Evernew stove

I noticed this stove on BPL, Chris. Someone has just bought one, and hopefully some figures will be forthcoming. I wouldn't say a heavier fuel consumption would be a killer though. If you used it primarily as a wood-stove, and carried meths as back-up, then it could be a nice little set-up. You could substitute a 'pop can stove' for the Ti one if you wanted to save another 20g or so.

It's certainly interesting Mike and I hope to test one. It'll have to be good to better the Ti-Tri Caldera though!

RE: New Evernew stove

I look forward to your report Chris. I have a Bushbuddy Ultra and can use a 'pop can stove' inside that if needed. This Evernew stove seems to be more compact, as well as lighter. I like burning things, and have my name down for a 6oz Kelly Kettle that someone is making on BPL. I only need boiled water. That's a fantastic weight for a combined stove/pot. There is something relaxing about watching a fire at night.
The Caldera system is great though, and the ordinary aluminium cone has been my no. 1 stove for a few years. I only went back to meths a few years ago, and much prefer it to canister stoves.

RE: New Evernew stove

I replaced my very old Evernew standard Cooking Pots recently with the new Evernew Titanium Ultra Light pot set (1300ml and 900ml) from AntiGravity.com in North Carolina. I've been looking for Evernew pots for ages and these new pots are great. They seem to be one of the few Titanium pots with decent handles.

Would go really well with that new stove you mention.

RE: New Evernew stove

Dave, an Evernew titanium pot has been my favourite since I bought it in 1991 - for $40 at REI. It was the first titanium pot I'd seen. It's still going strong. I agree with you on the handles. I now have a Ti-Tri Caldera Cone for it.

RE: New Evernew stove

On the subject of titanium pans in general.
I find that whenever I combine a ti pan with a micro gass stove I am forever burning my food, this drives me nuts. But I also need a pan that can be used on an open fire. Stoves can fail, so can gas bottles, on my last trip I used a stove with a wide burner and had no problems but its signifficantly heavier than my snowpeak ti gigapower. Do you know of any solution to this problem?
Thanks
Andy

RE: New Evernew stove

Some lightweight gas stoves have a much wider flame spread than others, avoiding hot spots and reducing the chance of burning stuff. The Vargo Jet Ti I've been using for a couple of years is good in this respect, but I'm sure there are other stoves with a similar design.
Also, I never run the stove at full blast. Doing so wates fuel and creates hot spots.
