Mount Elbrus attempt plus training weekend

A TGO reader, Dave Padgen, has been in touch with the office regarding a trip he is planning to Mt Elbrus, as well as a training course later this month in the Cairngorms, on which there are spaces available. If anyone is interested, send me a message and I can forward you the PDF. Or contact Dave on the number below.

"Having successfully climbed Kilimanjaro in January 2008 and becoming the first european with Cerebral Palsy to do so, I am preparing to go to climb Mt Elbrus in July 2010 and become the first person with Cerebral Palsy ever to summit. In addition, as you will see from the attached pdf, we will be complete a unique complete traverse from north to south on the mountain.

"Though the core team is already in place, we still have some spaces left for additional team members so I would be grateful if you could pass this information and opportunity to anyone you know who might be interested in joining the team. Also, would you be able to promote the expedition through your networks?

"Also, and this is shorter notice, but the team are partaking in a long weekend training in the Cairngorms. Here is the shedule:

"18. Travel to Aviemore:Collect hire equipment: Meet Instructors: ( stay Bunk house over night)
19. Early start for Day 1 Mountaincraft training. return to bunk house.
20. Early start for Day 2 Mountain craft training and build snow holes. Stay snow holes overnight. ( reserve accommodation at Bunk house)
21. Continue Mountain craft. Back to bunkhouse:Time for wash up and relax
22 Return travel home.

"Costs are as follows

"Mountaincraft for up to 8 persons:
3 Instructors for 3 days (NFG plus 2) throughout
Includes the hire of rucksacks, Mats, sleeping Bags, Stoves, Fuel, Shovels........... £1175.00

"Accommodation: per person per night ( 4 nights to pay).......................£30

"Self catering and own packed lunches and food for the night out..................... £5/6 per person per day.

"So with 8 people for the 3 days on the hill this looks as if it costs about £250/265 per person.

"Again, the core team are set to go on this training and team building weekend, but we do still have some spaces available so if you know anyone who may be interested in joining us, please let them have the information.
