Sorry, if I didn't make this clear. If I had, perhaps your reply would have been more carefully considered.

Montane would get more business from me if I knew that internet purchases would fit. I live far from any decent gear shops and am reluctant to be spending money on posting things back till I get one that fits.

Montane is no different from any other manufacturer, they don't produce garments to a global template. What did you do before the Internet or are you not that old?

The clothing industry spends a lot of money on gathering data about our bodies' measurements. In the past, Rohan was criticised for ignoring it. I realise that people are getting bigger and that Medium now is not what it once was, but at any given time, surely Medium garments from one given company should all be made to the same measurements. It would be nice if Medium from all companies meant the same thing, but that is probably unrealistic.
I did a six month industrial placement with a clothing company and saw how things end up the size they are. In came a Size 12 dress prototype. The lady in charge of ordering this dress called for Karen, who was known to be a size 12. The dress was pinned up to fit Karen and the amended measurements for their size 12 dress were sent to the manufacturer. The dress was actually a size Karen, which is fine if she stays the same size. The customers know what to expect, and that is important. It boosts sales and promotes loyalty.

The point is if the garment is well made, functional and fits well, whether the label says medium, large, or lardy butt, then great. For me (and angry) Montane make a great product and I've had my less than lardy ar$e on many a rough piece of highland rock ;)

Bukidnon a possible answer would be to try on at a gear shop before you purchase on the internet, this saves on returns. However I will add that in the current financial climate most gear shops will match internet prices if you can show them the web page. I recently got 15% off because I could prove that feild and trek had the item cheaper and in stock. price plus delivery came to around 15% saving from the shop so the sold them at that price.

Most stores have internet access all you can do is check. It helps if you know the gear shop staff well and they know you buy there regular.

Has anyone seen these for sale anywhere I am trying to get a new size large due to a wife caused accident with a hot iron. There only seems to be small and xl available in stores.

I know this is an old thread but I did eventually manage to get some from winwood outdoor's site.
