MCofS position statement on vehicle access to climbing crags

The Mountaineering Council of Scotland has invited comments on its website on what position it should take regarding vehicle access to climbing crags. Many popular crags are many hours walk from the road. Some of them have forestry tracks that have locked gates at the road end, and some climbers want to save themselves a 3 hour walk by driving to the foot of the crag.
I think it is surreal that the MCofS is even thinking about this. I know they have a duty to represent the views of climbers, but surely protection of land should come first? I'm puzzled that the MCofS even have to think about making a 'position statement' on this. What do others think?

I've forgotten how to do a link to the website article.

Here's the Link I think, though it seems the debate took place a few days ago.

I'd be surprised if MCoFS came out in support of vehicle access instead of the long walk in, but there's no harm in debating the subject.

Thanks for the link Ian. The 'debate' was only posted on Friday. Any comments that folk post don't seem to be available to the public eye, at least my 'comment' isn't visible. :)

Ah you're right about the date Mike. I misunderstood the News summary pagewhich anounces the debate with the posting date beneath. I was rushing to get you the link. Apologies - I hope I haven't misled anyone.
