Looks like a big entry for 2009

Roger has been on to us to say that it looks like we've had a huge entry for next year's Challenge. Possibly because it's the 30th event, or maybe even the publicity of the event being on television, but it looks like we could have the biggest entry for years. That of course, makes it a nervous time for everyone who's entered...

"Possibly because ... of the event being on television ... it looks like we could have the biggest entry for years..."

That might imply that the additional number of entries came from Scotland! The rest of us ain't seen it yet!

I hope there will be no geographical favouritism when it comes to the final draw, now that I'm south o' t' border!

As well as being shown on BBC Scotland the programme was also on Sky Channel 990, and I think that is available to people in Englandshire. :)

However, if you missed it there will an extended version of the show, plus extras, in a special TGO Challenge DVD, available in time for Christmas. Check out the Dec and Jan issues of TGO for more details.

IMHO you ain't missed much John. If you are passing by anytime pop in and you can watch the whole thing. Hopefully the extended version will give a much better impression of what the event is like.

Problem is Pete, one person's impression of the event may not be the same as another's. The lovely thing about the Challenge is that it means different things to different people. The last impression I want to give of the event is that it is a two-week bog trot. That may be what some people think it is, but as you know others would disagree. We therefore decided to speak to as many Challengers as we could, and discover what they think of the event, all in the context of last year's Challenge. The DVD will include some of the interviews we didn't have time for on The Adventure Show, plus some items on recommended Challenge gear.

Looking forward to seeing the DVD very much - by heck, we'll be able to show it to the little 'un in a few years and say "look what your folks used to get up to before you were born, you killjoy little brat!"

Please make Steph's royalty cheque out to "Deputy Dawg". :P

Satellite TV coverage hasn't reached these parts of Yorkshire yet. One of the darned things did fly over the county once but it was downed by a ballistic missile fired from the summit of Ingleborough by members of the Brigantian Monkey Wrench Luddites, who feared it might be Google Earth spying on them answering the call of nature.

John,
Are you on the magic mushrooms again? I've warned you about that habit before :)

So that's what those things were that John left in his old desk drawer... [w00t]

Ooops... must have been that pint I had with Mike in the heifer last night.

Still, we're awaiting our invites to the DVD's red carpet premiere - will it be in the Press Bar in Albion Street? Or the Hart's Head in Giggleswick?

And Emily – stop peeking in me drawers! I've gone all shy!

The Hart's Head in where? Surely there's no place called Giggleswick???
