RE: lack of activity

It's like the dead zone on here.
Perhaps it's simply the fact that TGO readership is not overly forum orientated?

RE: lack of activity

I think the design of the forum plays a big part in the lack of activity. I'm on a few other forums, and this one is 'clunky' to use, and not intuitive at all. I'm a bit of a gear-freak and like to post, and see others posting, items that are being discussed. Posting links and pictures on here takes too much investigating to find out the method for doing so.

RE: lack of activity

I've wondered about adding a photo to a thread before but couldn't see an easy way (mind you I do have the technical abilities of a mouse in a trap so I could be just missing the obvious).

RE: lack of activity

As a new boy here I'm prepared to be patient! Being able to post pictures would be an advantage, especially when it came to selling gear, showing off where you have been, interesting sights, or to illustrate a question. In TGO they must know that a picture is worth a thousand words!!!
On other Community Forums I belong to it is possible and a great help to see pictures.

RE: lack of activity

Mike's correct the whole forum set up is rubbish and very unfriendly.

The only real thing of interet is Norman's Trip Reports and even they require several mouse clicks to find. If it wasn't for Norman's thread I probably wouldn't bother logging in.

RE: lack of activity

Hill walker post - Norman's Trip Reports and even they require several mouse clicks to find. If it wasn't for Norman's thread I probably wouldn't bother logging in.

It would help if Norman posted each trip as a new thread but instead he is intent on getting the most views possible in some ego trip he had a competition with Yomper. "Yomper" has not posted for nearly a year but his thread still has twice the amount of Normans but he is too stuburn to give up

I am a member of TGO LFTO walkingforum and until its close Summit walking club but TGO is the slowest oldest and most user unfriendly LFTO is equally pathetic. Walking forum is by far the best run and has hundreds of posts a day. Summit Walking club was good and very user friendly but closed just last week.
