Ireland's Tourism Body has published it's survey of visitors:
"Activities: Hiking/cross country walking is the premier product, mentioned by one in every four as an activity they have taken part in during their holiday, rising to one in every three among Mainland Europeans. Satisfaction with the quality and price of this activity is generally high. Reported participation in other activities, such as golf and cycling, is quite low (6% for each)..."
Surprising result if you heed the usual perception of golfers making up the biggest group.
I'm trying to promote various walking activities here in Carlow, SE Ireland for a self-catering accommodation client and would welcome any feedback & pics from those who have ventured up the Blackstairs mountains in particular.
Great site BTW
