I've been enjoying the features of late on wildlife, on 'treading softly' and so on. How about something on the history within our hills - Clearances; Enclosures; Lost industry; Prehistoric remains; place-name history and so on. We've got old military roads in the Highlands, the Destitution roads too; Clearance communities; habitations lost to forestry; ironstone works; deserted railways; burial mounds and earthworks from ancient times; castles; the lost common lands in England; World War Two training grounds and so much more under our feet if we but know what we're seeing.
