RE: Got Any Website Problems?

I've tried twice to post a new thread, and it hasn't appeared.

RE: Got Any Website Problems?

I've just tried again to post a new thread in the Speak Out section, and it hasn't worked.

The jist of my post was a criticism of the new forum 'style'. What's all this nonsense about 'friends'? Add 'friends', i have so many friends! Keep all that boll...s for your Facebooks and the like. I hope the forum isn't trying to go down the Trail route of trying to be all trendy?
I actually find it embarrasing and cringe-worthy!
It's as if it has been designed by and for teenage girls to chat about Westlife or Hollyoaks.
Maybe i'm just a grumpy old git!

RE: Got Any Website Problems?

Hi Mike,
The new forum should prevent all the spam that has been making things so unpleasant over recent months. It will also allow users to share information in a wider variety of ways and to personalise their experience.
No, it isn't an attempt to be trendy, although it is important that we keep up with the times! For anyone who would rather keep things simple, it is still perfectly possible to use the more straightforward forum only without getting involved in the other aspects of the social network.
At the moment there are still a few glitches to iron out but I hope you will find the forum more user-friendly as time goes on.
Emily

Hey, Grumpy Mike,
If the TGO site became even a tenth as successful as Facebook then I, for one, would be delighted. Chill out man - go with the times. If a grumpy old fart like me can do it so can you!!! :)

RE: Got Any Website Problems?

Mike, they only work for me if I copy and past the text next to them. I've let Michael know about the problem over the w/e.:):P

RE: Got Any Website Problems?

Hey guys,

As Emily and Cameron say, this new community isnt about being 'trendy' or trying to be the next facebook, but is all about being a making a good community.

More features are on the way, and will be introduced gradually, such as the ability to form groups of people - ideal for walking and climbing clubs, or for fans of a particular walk or route.

We want this to be a tool and resource for like-minded people that share a common interest - hence the 'My Mountains' feature, which allows people to comment and share information on particular Munros - and soon be able to share pictures as well.

Oh and smileys are now sorted. I had fiddled with the smiley code to avoid URLS being made unreadable.

:)

Is My Mountains working yet. Hovering my mouse over the icons and clicking isn't working for me.
